Legal Eligibility, Consent and Witness Requirements

Both parties must be at least 18 under Sindh law, with voluntary consent, verified identities and no marriage impediment.

For the Hanafi Sunni procedure, witness requirements generally involve two competent Muslim men, or one competent Muslim man and two competent Muslim women. Other schools’ requirements must be considered separately. Under Ja‘fari law, witnesses are not a condition of Nikah validity; prescribed registration documentation remains a separate consideration.

Record agreed Mehr and prompt or deferred payment terms. Explain Nikahnama clauses before signatures.

Overseas Participation and Authorised Representatives

A video call alone does not establish validity or registrability. A representative’s authority, scope and acceptance must be documented. Overseas documents may require authentication, translation or consular handling.

Foreign nationals require individual review; Pakistani documents do not automatically establish overseas recognition, immigration eligibility or spousal-visa acceptance.

Nikah, Registration and Marriage Certificates

Record or Arrangement — Meaning
Record or ArrangementMeaning
Online NikahRemote solemnization using an appropriately established procedure
Court MarriageCommon term for lawyer-assisted free-will Nikah and related documentation
NikahnamaWritten marriage contract recording the marriage and agreed terms
RegistrationStatutory recording through the appropriate registrar/local authority
Computerised Marriage CertificateCertificate obtained from the competent issuing authority after registration

Section 5 of the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961 requires registration of Muslim marriages. Religious solemnization and statutory registration are distinct; registration should not be presented as optional.

NADRA does not solemnize Nikah. Marriage-certificate issuance and subsequent NADRA family-record updates are separate processes.

Remarriage and Existing-Marriage Cases

Divorced or widowed applicants require review of their legal status, supporting records and applicable iddat requirements. Where a man proposes another marriage during an existing marriage, Section 6 requirements concerning prior written Arbitration Council permission must be addressed separately.

Urgency or family opposition does not remove these requirements.

Fees, Timing and Confidentiality

Our online Nikah service package is PKR 40,000–60,000, depending on the agreed scope. 50% is payable in advance; the remaining 50% after Nikah and registration. The written quotation identifies included services and any separately payable certificate, translation, attestation or delivery expenses.

Solemnization depends on cleared documents and participant availability. Registration and certificate processing follow the authority’s requirements; same-day completion is not guaranteed.

We handle enquiries privately. Confidential legal assistance does not mean marriage registration records are exempt from lawful access.
